These couple past months I've learned a lot of new photoshop techniques and how to use the pen tool and how to use colors which I'm really excited about.

And I learned it all by myself.

Right now on my ipod I'm using no theme or anything and I can't find one that I like and will stick with since like, 3 months or so. I have decided I'll make my own. So instead of wasting all my creations I make, and never share, that ends up in the can, I have decided I should work on my own theme and upload my progress here to get feedback and stuff.

So let me break it down for you..

I'm not sure how far I'll go with this theme but I hope it will be great. So every time I make a new icon I'll add it here until I build a full theme.

I'll explain later as I go and update. It's going to be for the iPhone (duh)

Just trying to start a great 2011 with this design stuff :P

Please do tell us about your new pen tool techniques! I'd love to learn more about it, I definitely struggle with it.

I used to think I could never learn how to use the pen tool. But earlier this year I got the hang of it and learned how to use its sub features like the special pen tool toolbar. The features allow me to practically create and work with vector shapes. At first I used it for iPhone icons like glyphs but its useful for a lot of things and its become my favorite tool.

Here's the type of stuff I created: [link]

btw, This is a super secret icon that's never been shown and I haven't made my mind to release

I'd like to point out I meant I learned how to use the pen tool better and not so much new techniques. If you want you can Google "pen tool basics" and I'm positive you'll find a lot of tutorials for techniques. You might also be able to find the pen tool toolbar features (not sure if that's the name for it but this area [link]) which is what I learned how to use but I'm not sure where you can find that, again it was self taught.

Wow. Thank you. I'll let you know how progress goes my friend! I really am enjoying your icon! How did you go about making those streaks so perfect? As in the flares around the icon itself? You inspire me to continue :)

Thank you it means a lot :w00t:

Forgot to mention the app store is 100% vector - just shows the power of it and it was simple to achieve but I dunno how to explain

It's great you've taken the time to learn the pen tool, it's very useful. I haven't learned it yet which could make lots of things much easier for me. Same thing with the shape vectors.

Anyways back to your work. :) Looking very sharp so far. Reminds me of good ol' Carol theme. I'd love to be a beta tester when the time comes. ;)

I leaned how yo use the peen tool gradually but I think I can control most of its features I just need to a good tablet to practice on some intense pen work :D

Yeah looks like carol but hopefully not for long because I want a glossy theme. And sure I'll give you a beta! I plan on making a 3g version for myself but if you have a retina device it will be even better!

Cool! As I said, its really useful!
Haha it does! Yeah, that'd be very cool. Unfortunately I don't have a retina device yet. Probably in July though :D
